Base of Items for CAPTEAP System to allow easy proficiency test
creation; implementing an Adaptive Testing Module and a
Learning-by-doing Environment for Formative Assessment of
Instrumental English; developing a Web-based Support tool with a
case-base of papers in Pharmacy.
Goals:To develop tools
and resources aimed at assisting non-native English users with
various levels of expertise in scientific writing. To evaluate
innovative learning environments aimed at teaching and evaluating
instrumental English.
AMADEUS's Features
AMADEUS
is a suite of tools (Reference tool , Support Tool , Critiquing Tool
and CAPTEAP System) and resources developed over the last 10 years,
aimed at assisting non-native English users with various levels of
expertise in scientific writing. Overall, AMADEUS is based on the
reuse of linguistic material extracted from well-written texts, which
are categorized according to their function in the scientific
discourse. The tools were produced by combining this strategy with
Case-Based Reasoning, Critiquing Systems, and Systemic-Functional
concepts. Though the rationale employed is completely generic, the
actual tools were developed for specific scientific domains,
especially because extensive corpus analysis was required.
